The assignment
The assignment supported the preparation of Trabzon’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan with a strong focus on public transport improvement and integration through digitalisation and intelligent transport systems. Two principal deliverables, the Digital Solutions Report and the ITS and Traffic Management Report, identified and prioritised technologies to strengthen public transport operations, multimodal integration and network management. The work also supported institutional capacity development through targeted workshops, training and technical knowledge transfer for municipal staff.
Our contribution

- Identification and assessment of digital solutions for urban mobility, with emphasis on public transport user experience, service integration and data-driven operations
- Multi-objective evaluation of preferred scenarios aligned with Trabzon’s mobility needs and public transport integration priorities
- Benchmarking of selected solutions and their contribution to sustainable public transport and multimodal mobility
- Strategies for Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and integrated mobility platforms linking public transport with other modes
ITS and Traffic Management Report
- Diagnostic assessment of the municipal ITS system and its capacity to support traffic and public transport operations management
- A strategic ITS upgrade framework addressing operational efficiency, public transport management interfaces and priority measures
- Evaluation of bus electrification, EV charging infrastructure integration and alternative fuels within an ITS-enabled operational framework
- Targeted workshops and training for implementation and long-term management of ITS solutions supporting public transport and multimodal integration
